TriMac Engineering provided design upgrades to the lube oil cooling and piping system for a 6 MW, 1950s-era hydroelectric turbine in Southwest Nova Scotia. The end-of life oil cooler was replaced with a double-wall tube heat exchanger featuring integrated leak containment and detection. New cooling water piping included automatic isolation valves to contain potential oil leaks, and shaft bearing oil sumps were equipped with level sensors. TriMac also designed the system controls, including PLC and HMI programming and control logic.
