Machine Design – Hydroelectric Turbine Overhaul – Major Mechanical Refurbishments
- TriMac Engineering provided mechanical design and drafting services for a major overhaul of a 1960s-era 6 MW hydroelectric unit. The scope included detailed component design for interference fits and running clearances, conversion of greased bronze bushings and wear pads to self-lubricating composite materials, installation of new stainless steel pins and wear surfaces, resurfacing of journals via stainless steel sleeves or weld build-up and machining, and precision clean-up machining to re-establish critical dimensions and tolerances.
